Investigate The Spy Mart
To Protect Privacy & Safety
Personal security focus of business run by Detective
By Susan Graziano
Has anyone really been bugging you lately? Not to worry; you can do something about it. Stop by the showroom of The Spy Mart in Marlboro and look over the merchandise. The only personal-security products store open to the public in New Jersey. The Spy Mart sells all types of anti-bugging and anti-wiretapping equipment, from a basic $200 unit to a state-of-the-art device valued at $4,000.
"Let's say a businessman thinks his phone is being tapped or his office is bugged," said Marvin Badler of Marlboro, owner of The Spy Mart.
" Someone may be interested in his profit-or-loss information, or who his customers are - there's any number of reasons for industrial espionage. He can us a device to detect a bug then report it, since wiretapping is a federal offense Badler explained.
Badler was a member of the military police in the Air Force, the chief investigator for the New York City Department of Correction, a bounty hunter, and the first American to head up security for El Al Israel Airlines, renowned for its tight security system.
A licensed private investigator since 1966; he has been seeking equipment to clients for many years and knew there was a potential market among the public.
"There are always people trying to learn secrets about others," said Badler, who runs Atlantis Detective Bureau out of his Marlboro showroom. "But now you can protect your privacy."
Although he sells bugs, or radio transmitters, to law enforcement personal only, anyone can purchase a kit to build a transmitter himself.
